Game #97 A series with Crews in DC!

The Washington Nationals are back home, and in time to meet-up with Dylan Crews, the Nats’ 1st round pick, in the ballpark. He reportedly has agreed to his deal at around $9 million. Tomorrow could be the game that he is introduced officially to the fans. Crews should head to the Nats’ facility in West Palm Beach on Monday to begin workouts before they send him to a minor league affiliate to start his 2023 abbreviated season.

The Nats future is bright beyond the bullpen

Let us state the obvious right now that the Washington Nationals bullpen is a mess. Okay, we got that out of the way. The future is bright, and that takes no sugarcoating. James Wood, Dylan Crews, Brady House, Robert Hassell III, Cade Cavalli, Jarlin Susana, Jake Bennett, Yohandy Morales, Cristhian Vaquero, and even Elijah Green are 10 of the Nats’ minor leaguers that are the near-future on this team. Add major league pieces of MacKenzie Gore, Josiah Gray, CJ Abrams, Keibert Ruiz with those top prospects, and sprinkle in a top free agent or two, and 2025 and beyond looks incredible.

Trade Deadline is less than 2 weeks away

This year’s trade deadline is on August 1 at 6 pm ET. We are officially on “hug” watch. The Washington Nationals are going to make trade(s) of players on the final years of their contracts. Of course teams want healthy -AND- productive players — and the most popular name we were told that teams were inquiring on is closer Hunter Harvey, who is currently on the 15-day IL. Another trade candidate, Carl Edwards Jr. is readying himself to return from the IL, and will need to show that he can help a team.

Game #95 Nats coming off of a good win have Corbin on the mound

The Washington Nationals are in Wrigley Field for their second of three games against the Cubs. For the Nats, it is Patrick Corbin fresh off of the paternity list, and he should have a fresh arm after he has not pitched since before the All-Star break on July 9. After midnight tonight, Corbin turns 34 years old.

The Nats get Sykora signed with 8 other draft picks with just Crews to go in Rounds 1-to-10!

We all celebrated a great Washington Nationals draft of three projected first round talents in Dylan Crews, Yohandy Morales, and Travis Sykora. But the challenge always comes down to getting the players signed — because you never know. Sykora, for instance, had sizeable leverage on the Nationals since he was a top-rated high schooler at 19 years old, and he would be draft eligible in two years if he decided to honor his college commitment. The Nats signed him today at $2.6 million (pick 71 value = $1,021,300), and that was nearly at $1.6 million over-slot signing. We are told that Sykora will be represented by CAA.

Sykora, along with Morales, Andrew Pinckney and Marcus Brown, were all at Nats Park to officially sign. Morales also signed over slot, and nearly $600,000 above the suggested slot value.

Game #91 Suspended game continues

The Washington Nationals returned from the All-Star break on a high-note for the MLB players, and the organization that crushed it in the MLB Draft. Josiah Gray pitched a perfect 1-2-3 inning in the actual All-Star game, and top prospects James Wood and Brady House impressed during the All-Star Futures game. The Nats have won 4-of-their-previous-5 series, and started off the traditional second half of the baseball season in St. Louis, and of course it rained.
