Game #5 What does Mother Nature say?

The Washington D.C. rainforest weather strikes again. Who knows if they will play tonight. Tomorrow was supposed to be a getaway game for the Pirates which MLB could require a doubleheader. If they play tonight, expect a sparse crowd given the conditions. Baltimore experienced that last night at 9,404 of which most were no-shows, and Washington could have less — the difference is Washington is in a rebuild and a last place team. After a sell-out for the Nats at Opening Day at 40,405, the team should have a good April as the schedule has good matchups.

The Nats are in third place in the NL East in this abbreviated first week, and the division is really struggling out of the gates. That taste of second place after Saturday’s game felt so good until Kyle Finnegan‘s blown save on Sunday sent the fanbase into a tizzy on social media.

The team is monitoring the weather and has not made a decision as of now on postponing this game. This is Pittsburgh only series in Washington D.C. this year.

If you do arrive early and the game is in a delay, you can take advantage of a lengthened Happy Hour at Nationals Park which begins when gates open and goes until first pitch at the Budweiser Brewhouse, Budweiser Terrace and ULTRA Loft. On Happy Hour specials are 12-oz. cans of Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob Ultra are just $5, and 12-oz. cans of Bud Light Seltzer are just $6.

“We’re not playing horrible. A couple little things here and there. We’ll get those guys back on Wednesday, and we’ll try to go 1-0 on Wednesday.”

— manager Dave Martinez said

Trevor Williams is scheduled to start today against the team that gave him his start in the big leagues. As the Nats No. 5 starter, they could have skipped him with all of the days off. The Pirates have their No. 1 going with Mitch Keller.

New this year for the 6:45 start times, MASN’s new agreement with the Nationals is for a 45 minute pre-game show starting at 6pm.
