Game #140 Nats looking for a series split

The Washington Nationals losing streak continues with the starting pitchers putting the team in a deep hole. The offense fought back but it is hard to win when your starter gives up 8-runs over 4.0 innings.

With the day-off on Monday and the “A” bullpen not used yesterday, the Nats bullpen should be ready to go long today if needed, especially since tomorrow is another scheduled day-off before the weekend series against the Dodgers.

“If you look at our starting pitching right now, they’re going four-plus innings. When we get five-plus, six innings, we’re usually pretty good. I think that’s key.

— manager Dave Martinez said

The Nats starting pitchers have a combined ERA of 4.86 for 25th best in MLB.

Here is how they rank:

No. 6 Starter: Joan Adon 6.00 (starter’s ERA only)
No. 5 Starter: Patrick Corbin 5.23
No. 4 Starter: Trevor Williams 5.21
No. 3 Starter: Jake Irvin 4.35
No. 2 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 4.28
No. 1 Starter: Josiah Gray 4.13
