Game #109 Win a series?

The Washington Nationals are back to business as usual. That was the message that general manager Mike Rizzo conveyed after the nervous days and weeks that led up to the annual trade deadline. The trepidation that built-up to 6:00 pm yesterday might have caused some sleepless nights, and in the end Manager Dave Martinez told players at 6:01 PM last evening that nobody was traded that day.

There could be a roster move or two coming for left field and certainly for the September callups of two players — and that might become clearer in the near future as to whom that might be. The only noticeable move of course was Jake Alu at third base.

The Nationals optioned RHP Hobie Harris to Triple-A and activated LHP Robert Garcia. He was just picked up yesterday as a waiver claim from the Marlins.

“A couple of our players came in at 6:01 p.m. and asked, ‘Am I still here?’ I go, ‘Yeah, you guys are good. You got traded to the Washington Nationals, so congratulations. Keep playing.’
