Game #107 Nats trade Jeimer Candelario to the Cubs

The Washington Nationals officially traded Jeimer Candelario just before the start of this game to the Cubs. The last time the Nats and Cubs did a deadline trade it was Daniel Murphy for Andruw Monasterio. The irony is that Monasterio did not even stay two weeks in a Nats’ uniform, and today he is starting for the Brewers in today’s game against the Nats. Of course Monasterio was then traded with Daniel Johnson and Jefry Rodriguez to Cleveland for Yan Gomes.

The Cubs send their 14th and 16th best prospects to the Nats per MLB Pipeline in SS Kevin Made and LHP DJ Herz.

Pregame the Nats placed Trevor Williams on the Bereavement List and called up Hobie Harris.

“[Trevor Williams had] to go home. So when we get him back, he’ll come back and compete again.”

— manager Dave Martinez said

The Nats starting pitchers have a combined ERA of 4.65 for 20th best in MLB.

Here is how they rank:

No. 5 Starter: Patrick Corbin 5.07
No. 4 Starter: Jake Irvin 4.96
No. 3 Starter: Trevor Williams 4.72
No. 2 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 4.42
No. 1 Starter: Josiah Gray 3.27
