Game #134 Winner takes the series!

This is a winner-take-series game, and if the Washington Nationals can win today’s game they would win this series against the Mets, and go 10-10 in this span since they changed shortstops with CJ Abrams. Yes, defense matters and the change in ERA is over 1.0 run improved by Nats pitchers.

The start today goes to Erick Fedde who must bounceback after his poor start last week. He said he was too passive with his pitch selection. With Nelson Cruz hurting and out of the lineup, Fedde will get the same defense behind him as Patrick Corbin had last night.

There was a roster move as the Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Andres Machado and placed right-handed pitcher Victor Arano on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to Sept. 2) with a right shoulder strain. This gave the Nats an opening for a number of moves but made Machado the choice.

After this game, the Nats will fly to St. Louis for a four game series against the first place Cardinals.
