Today, the minor league news all starts with Cade Cavalli on the mound. The team’s No. 1 rated prospect would be the focus of the day based on the importance of each start.

Class-A Fredericksburg “FredNats” Nationals

Brendan Collins (2-1) suffered the loss on the mound for Fredericksburg after allowing six runs in the third inning. The FredNats offense could not score enough to overcome the deficit and lost in this series finale. Steven Williams had an RBI base hit, and Jacob Young reached base four times.  Leandro Emiliani had a home run in the game and Sammy Infante stroked a double for the rest of the offensive highlights. Orlando Ribalta, Pedro Gonzalez and Jack Sinclair all put up zeroes in relief. In conjunction with the Washington Nationals, the Fredericksburg Nationals have announced that three-time MLB All-Star and 2019 World Series MVP starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg will start Tuesday’s Fredericksburg Nationals game against the Salem Red Sox at Virginia Credit Union Stadium as part of a minor league rehab assignment.

High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks

Wilmington got another nice win led by 3-hit explosions by each of Onix Vega, Darren Baker, and Omar Meregildo. Baker had two doubles and Meregildo had a home run. Yasel Antuna was 1-for-3 with a triple and he added two walks. The Blue Rocks bullpen had to cover 6 1/3 innings and they were excellent in this 7-4 win.

Double-A Harrisburg Senators

The Senators lost a tough one by a score of 4-2. Drew Millas was 2-for-4 on the day and blasted his first Double-A home run. Richard Guasch started for the Senators and went four innings, walking three and striking out five. He allowed three runs on four hits. Alex Troop went two scoreless innings and Matt Cronin followed by pitching another scoreless inning in what seemingly appears to be a reliever who pitches every game. KJ Harrison had two hits, one a double, and drove in the other run in the loss. Of note, Joe Ross is scheduled to start on Tuesday on a rehab assignment for the Senators. Still no word on the status of Cole Henry who hasn’t pitched in 10 days. Earlier today, TalkNats reported that LHP Evan Lee went on the 7-day IL with a blister on his foot according to sources.

Triple-A Rochester Red Wings

RHP Cade Cavalli had a no-hitter today through his first four innings before giving up just one run in the 5th inning in a game that he had complete control of his pitches and was squeezed by the umpire who could not see the movement on the pitches. He exited in a 1-1 tie and he got run support from a Donovan Casey triple. Jake Noll had a 2-for-4 game and knocked in the other run in the game that ended in a tough 4-2 loss.

Farm System final notes 🎶

The Nats’ minor league system reversed their Saturday results with a 1-3 Sunday. Not a lot of highlights despite what you just read.
