Game #61 Jefrey Rodriguez gets the spot start; Nats look to sweep the doubleheader!

The Nats shocked the Giants and Kevin Gausman with a leadoff homer to start the first game of the doubleheader courtesy of Kyle Schwarber, and technically that was all the scoring that the Washington Nationals needed in the 2-0 shutout led by Erick Fedde‘s strong 5.0 inning start. In this nightcap of the doubleheader, it will be Jefry Rodriguez making a spot start.

This morning, the Nats announced several roster moves including the callup of Rodriguez, and his future will be determined by his performance in this game to see if he sticks around for the Nats as a long-man until Austin Voth is ready to come off of the 10-day IL.

The Giants are pitching a bullpen game and will start with a lefty reliever, Conner Menez, who has appeared four times for the Giants this season in relief.

Keep in mind, this is also a 7-inning game like this afternoon’s game which is part of the new rules MLB put into effect last year due to COVID.
