Game #9 Nats want the sweep against Cardinals; Stephen Drew to DL

The Washington Nationals have won the first two games of their season series against the Cards, and the Nats could not beat the St. Louis Cardinals in any venue in Palm Beach County, Florida this year in spring training. Those spring training games do not count for much as you are told over and over again unless you are a fringe player like Grant Green and Brandon Snyder. One of them could be called up today to replace Stephen Drew who is reportedly headed to the 10-day DL. Unless, Mike Rizzo can unearth a player like Jimmy Rollins who could be available, we will see Green or Snyder again.

Since moving Adam Eaton to the lead-off, the Nationals offense has exploded for 25 runs in just three games. Of course Trea Turner is a great lead-off man also, and it is always good to have more than less. The other good news is that we may not have to suffer through watching Adam Eaton batting 6th or 7th this season.

Today’s game features the reigning Cy Young for the NL in Max Scherzer, and the Cardinals have Mike Leake who has been inconsistent at times.
