Nats WALK-OFF CHOC-OFF! As exciting as it gets!

As Scherzer said, “I  f***ing  want it” and he delivered with the final out in the 7th inning after Matt Williams approached the mound with 2 outs and Dee Gordon coming to bat, and Scherzer delivered again with the Hershey’s Chocolate syrup after the walk-off!!!!

The Nats improve to 8-2 in extra inning games this year and this game was exciting before the 1st pitch as dueling aces were the Acês de jour with Scherzer and José Fernandez.

Trea Turner’s speed was on display tonight to  get the Nats the tying run in the 8th inning. Turner pinch-ran for Escobar who led off the 8th inning with a single. Turner advanced to 2nd base on a walk to Harper and with Turner at 2nd base, he advanced to 3rd as the ball squirted away from the catcher only a few feet and raced to the bag just beating the throw, and then scored on a shallow flyball by Ian Desmond.

Michael Taylor off the bench tonight delivered another key hit.  Clint Robinson was big on offense with a HR off of Fernandez which was only the 2nd HR he has given up this year.

Papelbon deserved a better fate as did Felipe Rivero earlier in the game, but on a Nats win and a walk-off, we can keep this positive!  Werth led off the 10th with a double off of the out-of-town scoreboard and advanced to 3rd base on a passed ball.  With one out, Lobaton hit a shallow flyball to Yelich in leftfield and Werth tagged and headed home and Yelich skipped the throw into the catcher who couldn’t handle it.  Werth faceplanted on his way to tagging the plate in a dramatic finish.  Nats won 5-4.
