Click to Read an Important Member Update Regarding Our Comment System
We recently upgraded our comment system to improve reliability, performance, and long-term control, and we’re currently running both systems during the transition. This shift moves us away from an external service to a system we run and control directly—meaning we own the content and can continue improving it over time. We’ve also reduced the comment refresh delay from about 30 seconds to 10 seconds, making it much closer to real-time.
We understand there have been frustrations and increased feedback, and we’re actively working to improve things. What we ask is simple: use the system and give it a fair shot. If you run into issues, please submit them through the support form so we can track and fix them properly. Repeated complaints without details don’t help us solve problems—we appreciate your patience as we continue refining the experience.

The Washington Nationals have just tonight and tomorrow afternoon’s game remaining in Florida on the Grapefruit League schedule. After Saturday’s game, the Nats will fly home to the DMV to get ready for two games against Baltimore. The Nats enter this game with a 13-8 record.
Two weeks ago, Gavin Fien was 18 years old and left off the MLB Pipeline Top-100; In the Spring Breakout game, he showed the world that he is a top prospect and set an RBI record in the game.

JUPITER, FL — The Spring Breakout was another successful showcase game for Gavin Fien, Eli Willits, Miguel Sime Jr. and Landon Harmon. This wasn’t their first showcase on the same stage. They all played together as High School non-seniors in the invitational 2024 MLB High School All-Star game. And days before that, the duo of Willits and Fien were teammates on the USA Baseball 18U National Team that won the gold medal at the Baseball World Cup on August 12, 2024, and then they flew from that game in Panama to San Diego for that All-Star game.
At last year’s draft, Fien, was a teenage high schooler, who was just 18 years old when he became the №12 pick by Texas, and Willits, was a 17 year old taken at №1 overall by the Washington Nationals. Fien arrived to the Nationals via the MacKenzie Gore trade. Sime and Harmon were acquired by the Nats through the draft. This is part of a young core of top prospects in the Nats system that is now brimming with top talent.
The people at Major League Baseball came up with a great concept with the Spring Breakout showcase games between teams across the minor leagues in the middle of March during Spring Training. This is the third year, and next year they move to a tournament style series of single elimination games until the champion wins them all.
The Washington Nationals had their first rain-out of Spring Training last night. Palm Beach County was in a rain deficit a week ago and has been catching up in the past four days.
Speaking of deficits, the team made some surprising cuts this morning with Robert Hassell III and Josiah Gray sent to Spring Training camp. Okay, we didn’t have Gray making the team, but Hassell as a lefty outfielder seemed like he had the inside track for the bench. Nope. The position roster comes down to one more cut in the outfield from the pool of Dylan Crews, Joey Wiemer and Christian Franklin. The bullpen has five more cuts to come. Of course, Paul Toboni could still look to the outside for acquisitions through a trade or a waiver pick-up — especially for players out of options.
The Washington Nationals have another evening game tonight. The Nats will also be submitting their final roster today for tomorrow’s Spring Breakout game.
In other news, Venezuela is the World Baseball Classic champs after defeating USA by a final score of 3-2. Remember when the Nats beat Venezuela two weeks ago in an exhibition game by a score of 5-1? Does that make the Nats one of the best teams in the world?
If you love offense, I would recommend you go ahead and click out of this because the Nationals won a 1-0 game over the Cardinals this afternoon, and personally, I’m all for it. The Nats got it done today, behind a five scoreless innings performance from Jake Irvin, who’s been one of the most pleasant surprises from the big league camp this spring. Irvin, a guy thought by many to be on the verge of a breakout season last year, turned in his worst as a professional, and the question heading into this season was, can he return to form? So far, that answer is a resounding yes.

The Washington Nationals will be donning their St. Patrick’s Day hats today and hoping for some good luck. With last night’s win, the 12-7 Nats (with three ties) are guaranteed to finish their Grapefruit League play with at least a .500 record. Throw in that 5-1 win against Venezuela’s WBC (World Baseball Classic) team, and they are 13-7. Does beating Venezuela make the Nats one of the best teams in the world? Tonight is the finals of the WBC with Venezuela vs. USA.
The Nationals sit in a strange position for bettors. Sportsbooks have placed their 2026 win total between 65.5 and 69.5, and the juice leans heavy toward the under. That tells you what the market thinks. But betting on rebuilding franchises requires a different approach than backing contenders. You cannot expect consistent wins, so you look for spots where the line undervalues what Washington brings on a given night.
The Washington Nationals complete their Grapefruit League schedule in five games after tonight. Opening Day is in the 10-day countdown. The Nats have two exhibition games on Sunday and Monday against the Orioles.
