Game #7 Nats are on their first road trip!

This game begins the Washington Nationals’ first road trip of the season. With four games in Colorado that begins this afternoon, it is not exactly a fair test for the Nats’ pitchers based on the “thin air” factor in Coors Field. But the Nats have to compete and both teams have to pitch in the same conditions.

Here are your Nationals starting pitcher’s ERAs through yesterday’s game:

No. 5 Starter: Josiah Gray 9.00 ERA
No. 4 Starter: Patrick Corbin 8.00
No. 3 Starter: Chad Kuhl 7.20
No. 2 Starter: Trevor Williams 5.40
No. 1 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 1.69

Yes and absolutely those are miniscule sample sizes, and one-to-two turns through the rotation is not necessarily indicative of what a full season’s results will look like. Colorado stats might skew those further and luckily this is the Nats only trip to Denver this year.

Tonight will be the second start of the season for Josiah Gray after he gave up three home runs over the weekend in his first start with two in the first inning. The fans have already forgotten about his stealth Spring Training that looked so promising. That goes to the fact that looks can be deceiving — especially in Spring Training.

Here is your Baseball Savant Statcast link for the game.
