Game #27 Nats wrap-up their Grapefruit League schedule today!

We have our final game of the Grapefruit League schedule today, and then the Washington Nationals head to their charter jet for their trek to Washington, D.C. There could be some question as to who is on the plane after the most recent cuts. While Matt Adams was not cut, he was told that he would not make the team leaving Michael Chavis only competing for the spot against possible waiver claims or trades before Opening Day.  The bullpen seems much closer to being set after the Nats made three more cuts with some surprises as Paolo Espino was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to stretch him out as starter depth. Alex Colome, Andres Machado and Wily Peralta were cut also, but just like Chavis for a bench spot, general manager Mike Rizzo could make a waiver claim or trade to add to his bullpen.

“There’s no set roster right now,” manager Dave Martinez said. “We still have decisions to make. We probably won’t make any decisions until we go back to D.C.”

This game has a first pitch at 1:10 pm ET game today against the Marlins in Jupiter. Expect many of the Nats’ starters to play in this game which is just north of West Palm Beach. The 14-mile drive up I-95 is a close one for Nats’ fans to attend games there. The Nats are 12-12-2 in the Grapefruit League and would like to end their play in Palm Beach County on a high note. Josiah Gray is set to start for the Nats, and they will face former Nats’ farmhand Jesus Luzardo in this game. Of note, Monday is a team day-off to allow the Nats players to unpack and settle into their homes for the regular season. On Tuesday, the team has a busy schedule to include a noon game against the Yankees followed by the team’s charity gala. Wednesday is a day-off and Thursday is Opening Day.
