Game #123 Patrick Corbin again

The Washington Nationals probably could have lined up Erick Fedde to come off of the Injured List today, but instead, it is Patrick Corbin on the mound in the final game in San Diego this year.

This series almost has a playoff feel, but truthfully, the only way the Nats sniff the playoffs this year is to buy a ticket to watch a game.

That photo above highlights three key additions to this Nats team with Joey Meneses, C.J. Abrams, and Ildemaro Vargas. While Abrams was a top prospect, Vargas was a journeyman, and Meneses is a 30 year old rookie who finally got a chance.

All Meneses has done with his chance is help this team win games. Last night, he added two more hits and set a Nats record topping Anthony Rendon‘s mark for the most hits to start a MLB carrer in a Nats uni in the first 16 games at 20. Meneses for his part is batting .323 with a .935 OPS.

For the third game in a row, Luke Voit will sit with back spasms. Erick Fedde will come off the IL to start on Tuesday in Seattle, and Luis Garcia will head to a rehab assignment with Rochester and play second base.

After this game, the Nats will fly to Seattle and have a day-off tomorrow.
