Saturday’s Minor League stand-outs!

Washington’s minor league farm system update!

There were a lot of close games in the Nats’ minor league affiliates  tonight. Fredericksburg and Wilmington (walk-off) both had one-run wins, while Harrisburg lost by one-run, and Rochester lost by two-runs. The FredNats have a 4-game winning streak going. There are plenty of players who stepped up today. We also got to see the 2022 debut for catcher Drew Millas who started a rehab assignment at Class-A Fredericksburg.

Class-A Fredericksburg “FredNats” Nationals

The FredNats once again brought the thump on offense with an early home run from Sammy Infante then the late inning game-winner on a T.J. White blast of 418 feet. Closer, Jose Ferrer earned the save for the FredNats. It was another productive night for top position prospect Brady House who tallied two RBIs in this one. Millas worked two key walks and scored two runs.

Triple-A Rochester Red Wings

Aaron Sanchez was supposed to start the game for the Wings tonight until he was promoted to the big league club this morning. So Rochester threw a bullpen game and yielded 10-runs. The Red Wings offense scored eight runs which weren’t enough. Joey Meneses was once again a beast, and the top minor league performer going 4-for-5 with four RBIs. Jake Noll and Josh Palacios with two hits and a walk for each.

Farm System final notes 🎶

The Nats’ minor league system certainly had a mixed bag of results. While we talk about the highlights here, losses mean there were failures, and tomorrow’s a new day. It was good to see some new names on the list of top performers in today’s report.

High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks

In Wilmington, Delaware, the Blue Rocks played another good game against the Hickory Crawdads and this one ended with a walk-off win! Seth Shuman pitched a 6.0 inning 2-hit gem yielding one run, and Yasel Antuna was a force in this game going 1-2 with a home run, two walks and two stolen bases as the offensive star. The Wilmington Blue Rocks (8-6) received a Drew Mendoza single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Hickory Crawdads by a final score of 3-2.

Double-A Harrisburg Senators

In Harrisburg the starting pitching was dominant with Steven Fuentes going 6.0 innings of two-run baseball for a no-decision. Rudy Martin, Jake Alu, and Taylor Gushue were the top of the lineup offense and Gushue scored all of the team’s runs on a three-run homer. It wasn’t enough as Harrisburg fell 4-3.
