Game #95 before the Nats head up north on I-95.

The streaky Washington Nationals are taking advantage of their schedule and will try to sweep the Marlins today before a day-off tomorrow and a weekend series against the team from Baltimore. This game will end this 6-game homestand, and a chance to really push the team closer to that .500 mark.

For the home team, Erick Fedde will take the mound and show that his recent scuffles were just outliers. Through June 22nd, Fedde had a very strong 3.33 ERA and then he got injured and tried to pitch through it and his return from the IL has not been good as that raised his ERA by a point under 2.00 runs per game. In all, Fedde has six games in which he has held the opponents to six runs or less. We have seen more of “good Fedde” and need to see more of that.

With the Marlins losing Sandy Alcantara to the bereavement list, they called up righty Nick Neidert form their Triple-A for a spot start. Some of these Nats have faced him in games in Spring Training, the minors, and in the big leagues.

Before the game, the Nats received some good news as Alcides Escobar‘s right wrist that he was hit on last night was feeling good enough for him to start today.
