Game #92 Nats mired in a 6-game losing streak and hopes are fading fast!

The Washington Nationals’ hole was dug deeper as the losing streak is now at a 6-game losing streak with Max Scherzer on the mound as the stopper. Last night, Patrick Corbin, was on the mound, rested but not ready. He gave up 6 earned runs and his 5.66 ERA is part of the problem with a team that is struggling to score runs with Kyle Schwarber and Yan Gomes on the IL.

General manager Mike Rizzo had just spoken about needing a quick start for the Nats after the All-Star break, and the Nats have fallen flat in 2-games in a row. Scherzer now has to be the ace of aces, but the losing streak started as Scherzer was pitching with the 8-run lead in San Diego a week and a half ago when he gave back 6-runs including a grand slam to a relief pitcher with a career .000 batting average (1 strikeout).

Now manager Dave Martinez has to figure things out to salvage this series and get a win today. He has kept his “A” bullpen rested.

The Padres are pitching righty Joe Musgrove who the Nats have faced before.

Musgrove vs. Nats

The lineup for this game has Tres Barrera back in at catcher and Josh Bell at first base. Andrew Stevenson who was called up as the 27th man today and he will play centerfield as the struggling Victor Robles goes to the bench. Gerardo Parra is also in the starting lineup and in leftfield. Josh Harrison will man the hot corner in this one.
