The #Nats All-Stars are now a quartet with Scherzer added!

Snubs happen all the time with All-Star rosters, and MLB just righted things by adding Max Scherzer to the All-Star team. It will be his 8th consecutive game (no game in 2020). He joins Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and Juan Soto in a quartet of Washington Nationals who will be well-represented in Colorado for the 2021 All-Star game.

The obvious omission is manager Dave Martinez as the manager of the last World Series in a full season. His honor of managing the NL squad never happened due to the cancellation of the 2020 All-Star game due to the COVID pandemic. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred was well aware of the circumstances as was this year’s manager from the Dodgers, Dave Roberts, who never extended an invitation to Martinez. He had ample time to do it while the teams were playing each other last week in a 4-game series.

Also, Juan Soto is a participant in the Home Run Derby and will face-off against Shohei Ohtani in the first round. Soto is the 8th seed in the 8-man field.

We will see how the Dodgers manager works in the Nats players since technically all of the Nats are reserves since none were chosen as starters.
