Game #8 Patrick Corbin is on the mound to get baseball going again in Washington D.C.!

It has been a while since the Washington Nationals have had a game. They have won two games in a row and had some momentum going as the bats, the starters, and the bullpen all put it together at the same time. This is a quick two-game series against the Mets, and they have been dealing with their own injuries and a very embarrassing opt-out when Yoenis Cespedes did not show up for their game on Sunday and later informed their team he was opting-out. The Nats have had opt-outs, but they were handled professionally.

One surprise for the Nats is that Juan Soto will start the game on the bench, and Andrew Stevenson was optioned to the Alternate Training Site in Fredericksburg. Wander Suero was activated from the 10-day IL, and he took Will Harris‘ spot when he was placed on the 10-day IL with a groin issue. Manager Dave Martinez said that Soto would be available as a pinch-hitter.

Good news has Howie Kendrick back in the line-up after he was scratched a week ago with back pain, and it was announced that Stephen Strasburg would throw a sim game tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight it is a battle of the lefties with Patrick Corbin going for the home team and Steven Matz for the visitors. The Mets will start two ex-Nats with Wilson Ramos at DH and Brian Dozier at second base.
