Game #10 Jacob deGrom gets the start against the #Nats

If it feels like the rotation is being set-up in an order of Max Scherzer to Stephen Strasburg to Patrick Corbin to Anibal Sanchez, you would be correct. That is the plan and the last guess is who will be the fifth starter in the rotation. Out of the gates, it looks like Joe Ross as he took the start this week against the Yankees while Austin Voth and Erick Fedde are entering games after the starters have reached their pitch counts. Fedde tried to go 3.0 innings in relief of Corbin yesterday but was pulled as he got in trouble with a high pitch count at 2 2/3 innings. Manager Dave Martinez is trying to stretch out both Voth and Fedde for obvious reasons as the team’s starting rotation depth.

The Mets will start Jacob deGrom in this game against Anibal Sanchez at the Mets spring training park. During Spring Training in 2017, the Mets announced a 10-year naming rights deal with First Data to brand their Spring Training ballpark in Port St. Lucie as First Data Field. When First Data Corporation was acquired last year by Fiserv, that led to a renaming of the ballpark to Clover Park (not Fiserv) which sounds like an odd name, but based on our research we learned that Clover® is one of Fiserv’s top financial software packages.

The Mets will have most of their starters in this game, and the Nats will go with a travel squad in this one. If you thought that Spring Training records matter, think again. The Nats are 2-5 and the Mets are 3-5. Who cares. What matters is health and process for the players who project to be on the active roster when these two teams meet on Opening Day on March 26th in CitiField.

This game will be televised on the Mets feed and on 106.7 FM radio locally in Washington D.C.
