Game #123 Will the #Nats see the Brewers again this year? Doolittle to the 10-day IL

After this game, the Nationals have just 39 games remaining, and while this will be the last game the Nationals will face the Brewers within the 162-game regular season, it might not be the last time they see each other this year. After last night’s 14-inning five hour and forty minute marathon, the team is going to have to dig deep. They have shown what they are made of and it is a team game. They lost as a team last night, and today is a new day.

The Nats have placed Sean Doolittle on the 10-day IL with right new knee tendinitis, and recalled Kyle McGowin for depth.  Erick Fedde is on the mound today, and he will be asked to go deep in this game to rest a bullpen that used all eight arms last night. We will see what general manager Mike Rizzo is going to do about getting fresh arms to D.C. on short notice. Clearly Javy Guerra is not going to be unavailable, right? And you do not want to pitch Matt Grace or Tanner Rainey because of all of the pitches they threw. Do you really want to pitch Daniel Hudson again?

The Brewers have similar issues to the Nats. They will go with Chase Anderson, and the right-handed veteran will be asked to go deep in this game. The Brewers have a much different looking lineup as they will not start Ryan Braun, Yasmani Grandal and for the second day in a row Lorenzo Cain is out of the lineup nursing an undisclosed issue.
