Game #45 Strasburg has the mound on FOX

Yesterday, all the past troubles seemed so far away were not the exact lyrics of The Beatles, but it seemed like the Nationals were ready to turn a corner and put their past troubles behind. It was not the case as the bullpen meltdown hit a high for the season with 5 home runs surrendered and 11 runs. They did not get the gem they wanted by Max Scherzer, and they did not get the early offense they had received in their two previous wins. The Nationals are playing on the national FOX broadcast tonight, and they send Stephen Strasburg to the mound.

The Cubs send another lefty to the mound with Jon Lester, and hopefully Stephen Strasburg is prepared for the scouting report on the Cubs he will face. The Nationals will be without Victor Robles tonight.

We will await the roster moves from the Washington Nationals as expected with Justin Miller head to the 10-day IL with rotator cuff soreness.

Yesterday, Dave Martinez‘s former boss, Cubs manager, Joe Maddon, was asked about his former bench coach, and he was empathetic of the situation.

“I think, before you get all, like, weirded out about Davey, let’s get a bullpen that plays consistently well,” Maddon said. “And then, you can find out what you’ve got. You can’t underestimate how much better a manager can look when they have a good bullpen versus not having a good bullpen. It’s that simple.”
