Game #40 Nats historic comeback last night puts #Nats in position to win series!

The Nationals find themselves in a position to go for a series win instead of salvaging a series split thanks to Gerardo Parra and his teammates. It was a key team win last night and the operative word is “team” because there are no heroics if Parra does not come up to bat in the 8th inning.

On this Mother’s Day, Stephen Strasburg will be on the mound with his wife and mother of his children, Rachel, in attendance as well as Stephen’s mom, Kathleen Swett, will make the short drive up from San Diego to watch her son pitch. There are certainly other moms in attendance for today’s game to watch their Nats players, and the Nationals can win their first series of the month and have only been in a position to win one other series this month on the final game of a series.

The Dodgers send the left-handed Hyun-Jin Ryu to the mound, and he is one of the few players with a jersey number (99) higher than Parra’s number 88. Most of the current Nats have never faced Ryu before which will make today’s lineup an interesting conglomeration. Howie Kendrick and Michael Taylor have both faced him 8 times before and Taylor is 0-8 so a righty/lefty might not be the best matchup as Parra is a career .333 against Ryu for instance as a lefty/lefty matchup.
