Gio Gonzalez 7.0 1 ER and does not get the win

If you look at the results, Gio Gonzalez did great in this game as he went 7.0 innings of 1 run baseball, but the same can’t be said for his offense or bullpen. The offense got shutout and the bullpen gave up 2-runs in 1 inning of work. An embarrassing 3-0 loss. The Nats had such low energy you just cannot believe some of the swings and misses at the plate.

The Nationals had their best chances in the 2nd inning when they had 2 runners on and no outs but could not even move the runners up who were stranded.

How do you not score off of a pitcher who entered the game with an ERA of over 7.00? Jason Vargas got 8 strikeouts in 6 innings of work for his best outing of the season.

The Washington Nationals now have an 18-inning scoreless drought. Their last run scored was that walk-off home run from Ryan Zimmerman.
