Game #128 Cy Young award hopefuls for 2018 face-off! It’s Scherzday!

The three top pitchers in the National League at this moment are Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom and Aaron Nola. Today’s Washington Nationals  game features two of those three facing-off as Scherzer and Nola will be on the mound today. Their faces will be prominently on those league leaders baseball cards after the season, and most likely one of those three will be hoisting that 2018 Cy Young Award.

Today’s game has even more meaning for NL East supremacy as the Phillies have lost 4 games in a row and the Nationals are on a modest 3 2 game winning streak. The Nationals and Phillies are now separated by just 4 ½ games in the standings. The Braves should also be thanking the Nationals because the Atlanta lead in the NL East over the Phillies is now 3 games.

The lineups should be interesting today as Adam Eaton is a  career 0-8 against the Phillies’ starter while Nola’s LSU teammate, Andrew Stevenson, has never faced him before. Michael Taylor is a career .286 with a dinger against Nola so there’s that. By the way, Wilmer Difo is 5-15 against Nola for a .333 batting average, and Bryce Harper has faced Nola 23-times with a .391 batting average and two home runs.
