The Nationals have been seeing a whole lot of lefties lately. Tonight, they are scheduled against Eric Lauer who was the 25th pick of the Padres in 2016 out of Kent State. Lauer’s debut a month ago was not great and righties have been torching him to a 10.13 ERA. The soft-tossing lefty has fared well against lefties. Overall he has an 8.14 ERA and a 2.10 WHIP and he will walk a batter if they work the count and show patience.
For the Nationals, it is Jeremy Hellickson‘s turn to pitch, and he last pitched 9-days ago. This will be Hellickson’s 7th start of the season and hoping he can go at least 6.0 full innings today. He pitched that 6 2/3 inning gem against the Padres when he pitched a shutout while striking out 8 San Diego batters on May 8th.
It will be interesting to see if manager Dave Martinez pencils out the same line-up as yesterday since Lauer fares well against lefty batters.

As we wrote yesterday, our sources have told us that the Nationals will call-up Erick Fedde from Triple-A Syracuse for a spot-start which will require two moves which will probably move a reliever back to Triple-A.
