Nats News & Notes| Four upcoming “Hot Stove” events for Nats, P-Nats, GMU & UVA

Hot Stove Event

Having season tickets for the Nationals comes with privileges. You get an invitation to attend the 2018 Hot Stove Session next weekend with Mike Rizzo, Dave Martinez and Valerie Camillo. The Natioanls have asked that those fans who want to ask questions must submit their questions in advance as they said it was more efficient to do it this way. Questions must be submitted to the Nats by Wednesday, January 31st at 5:00 p.m. to be considered.

It is a top event on the season, and you get to hear the speakers talk more openly at this event with a good chance that Mike Rizzo gives an exclusive tidbit to the audience like he has done in the past.

The night before the Nats Hot Stove event next weekend is the George Mason University baseball team’s first-pitch dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the Fairfax Country Club.

Nats’ manager Davey Martinez will be at the event as well as one of the speakers. It is a great opportunity to support the George Mason University baseball team where they have been developing some good players recently like Justin Bour who is the 6th major leaguer they have produced at the school, and Chris O’Grady from George Mason’s 2012 team made his debut last year for the Marlins.

This weekend is the Potomac Nationals “Hot Stove” dinner with Johnny Holliday at the Old Hickory Golf Course. It is a very affordable event and should have a lively discussion on the Nats farm system. In addition, they have a nice silent auction.

The event is on Sunday, January 28th, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and tickets to the event must be purchased in advance of the night’s festivities, as no payment for banquet tickets will be accepted at the door. Tickets are $55 for each adult in attendance and $30 for children ages 12 and under.

To purchase a ticket, please contact Potomac Nationals Director of Finance, Shawna Hooke, at 703-590-2311 ext. 212. Order forms can also be downloaded here.

They might even talk about their popular bobbleheads that the P-Nats are known to produce.

If you want to make all four events, the last one is tomorrow at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia when the Cavaliers will open up their baseball Hall of Fame and enshrine Ryan Zimmerman and Sean Doolittle as well as several other distinguished former UVA players and coaches.

“This [Hall of Fame] is a great addition for Virginia baseball,” said UVA head coach Brian O’Connor. “It’s important to us as a program to not only recognize our great players but to be able to provide the link between the history of Virginia baseball and the guys that will take the field for us this spring.”
