Poor starting pitching and timely hitting sink #Nats

The Nationals lost 10-4 but the game was within striking distance several times for a comeback. Adam Lind jacked a 3-run home run and Daniel Murphy had three hits but Joe Ross gave up 7 runs to put the game in jeopardy early.

While Ross wasn’t good, the offense missed golden opportunities with men on base by misplays and gift hits. Werth left 3 men on base and Michael Taylor left 7.

A day after showering Taylor with accolades he struggled in the six hole. It must be a coincidence because the last time Taylor was in the 6 hole he struggled like this.

In the 9th inning, Jayson Werth came out of the game after fouling a ball off of his foot.

It will be decision time with Joe Ross as to what the brain trust decide to do with him. Dusty Baker in the postgame media session said several times “Joe was fighting Joe”. Ross began the game with a strikeout and had the 2nd batter in a 1-2 count when Jose Lobaton was charged with catcher’s interference. Ross was clearly bothered by it and promptly gave up a 2-run home run and 4 runs in the first inning.

Tomorrow will be the rubber game in the series as the Nationals four game winning streak ended today and needs to be reignited.
