Roark rebounds; Ball bounces right for #Nats; Defense solid again!

Tanner Roark struggled through the first inning giving up 2-runs, but then followed that with 5 innings of shutout baseball en route to earning the win while running his pitch count to 97 pitches tonight in 6 full innings. The Nationals finished off the Marlins to win 6-4 as Blake Treinen earned the Save, and Holds by Joe Blanton and Oliver Perez.

The hitting star is debatable as Matt Wieters‘ statline looked great going 3-3 and Jayson Werth got 2-hits but each got a gift wrapped hit, and you take those any way you can get them. Adam Eaton scored 2 runs and had a double and a walk, and Bryce had two hits as well as Daniel Murphy, and Ryan Zimmerman opened the scoring with an oppo home run.

The difference was probably team defense as the Marlins were not good in making plays and the Nationals made every play including a Bryce Harper Web Gem to open the 9th inning and Adam Eaton had his first outfield assist in the 1st inning to throw out Justin Bour at 3rd base.

The game ended on a Blake Treinen strikeout of Christian Yelich on a changeup in the dirt. Last year, Treinen threw a total of 10 changeups out of the 1,028 pitches he threw which is less than 1% of the time. What a time to throw that changeup as Yelich represented the tying run and was totally fooled.
