The Winter Meetings are around the corner…literally for some

The Winter Meetings are around the corner…literally for some in geographic terms as the meetings are set on the banks of the Potomac River at the Gaylord Resort in National Harbor, Maryland. A week from now baseball personnel will descend on Washington, D.C. ahead of the start of the Winter Meetings. One unfortunate bit of news is that the MGM casino resort near the Gaylord will not be ready in time for the start of the meetings as was previously planned.

The Gaylord is only 7.5 miles to Nationals Park which according to the schedule will not be available for off-season tours. There will still be plenty to do for sightseeing as the Winter Meetings have become a huge event and much to see is what goes on in the lobby there as MLB Network will be set up to interview general managers, agents, and current and former players. There will also be the annual job fair for those seeking a job in baseball. The trade show is another attraction for those on the revenue side of the business.

For most Nats fans, they know the Winter Meetings is where Mike Rizzo gets busy with his dealings, and the urgency level increases. This is where most of the rumors get started as the Hot Stove is piping.
