“Today was official start hero time,” Dusty Baker said.

In the post-game news conference last night, Dusty Baker was discussing with five or six games left in the regular season that he is looking for players to step up as heroes. Have you ever heard Dusty talk about that before?

You can listen to Dusty on the video below to what you think that means, and here was Chelsea Jane’s take on this:

Is Dusty saying it is time for players to step up to maximum effort? That was something you saw from Jayson Werth in the 2012 playoffs as he climbed walls to rob a home run and was diving for balls, and then in Game #4 of the 2012 NLDS, Werth hit the walk-off home run.

Unfortunately for Werth he could not be the hero in the 2014 NLDS. Werth was not healthy, and in fact had shoulder surgery after the season.

Jayson Werth is the man to watch and lead by example. He wants to be a hero, and he wants his teammates to step up especially with Wilson Ramos lost for the season due to the knee injury. This team will need all players willing to step up which will include making a productive out if needed, and diving for some balls, and getting the uniform dirty.
