Game #99 Nats hope 3rd time is the charm for Lucas Giolito: Game Thread

The Nationals will call-up Lucas Giolito today, and the Nationals hope the 3rd time is the charm for Lucas to get his 1st MLB win. This will be Giolito’s 3rd ‘spot’ start for the Nationals, and from our sources this should only be a 1 day gig as he will be sent back to AAA when Sammy Solis is activated for Tuesday’s game. What needs to happen today is a roster move to make room for Giolito. A DFA does not make sense since we are only 38 days away from roster expansion on September 1st when teams can expand their rosters above the 25-man limit we have now. Expect Koda Glover to be optioned today.

The other complication is that many Nats’ fans are expecting some trade(s) which would also complicate the active roster as well as 40-man moves.

Giolito will face lefty Christian Friedrich of the Padres in the early afternoon game.
