Game #94 Reynaldo Lopez debut game: Game Thread

The Los Angeles Dodgers come into Washington, D.C. for their final series of the regular season with the Washington Nationals, and the Nats certainly want to get even in their season series.  In that June series in Los Angeles, the Nats found new ways to lose, and the grounder not fielded in centerfield by Michael Taylor to allow Yasiel Puig to walk-off on a three-base error is not how the Nationals want to finish their season series with the Dodgers.

The Nats are calling up Reynaldo Lopez from Triple-A Syracuse to make his Major League debut. The hard throwing right-hander just finished an electrifying inning last week at the All-Star Futures game. Lucas Giolito will be starting tonight for the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs.

Lopez will be added to the active roster with Sammy Solis moved to the 15-day DL list with a knee sprain. The Nationals will also be required to make a move on the 40-man roster as it currently stands at 40 which will require a corresponding move. Most likely a Minor League relief pitcher will be removed from the 40-man roster, and Abel De Los Santos was waived to make room on the 40-man roster. The Reds immediately claimed De Los Santos.

You will notice many line-up changes tonight such as Wilson Ramos and Anthony Rendon are both out of the line-up and Daniel Murphy will appear in his first game of the season at 3rd base. This will be Murphy’s 87th game in his Major League career at 3rd base, and he is familiar with the position as he began in his Minor League career as a corner infielder.

The Dodgers have lefty Scott Kazmir pitching which should set up Dusty Baker with his alternate right-handed line-up.

Here are the Nats stats against Kazmir:
