A Strasburg no-hitter….for 6 2/3 innings and the Danny show!: Postgame

The Nats won a laugher today by a score of 12-1, and the big story was Stephen Strasburg, who was activated off of the DL today while he had not pitched a game in 18 days, and had a no-hitter going with 2 outs into the 7th inning. Dusty Baker pulled Stras at 109 pitches which was the prudent move. The team no-hitter disappeared in the 8th inning as Matt Belisle gave up 3 hits and the shutout.

Wilson Ramos spoke about Stephen Strasburg’s outing and throwing a no-hitter, “I know that if it weren’t for the pitch count plus that because he was coming off the injury, he would’ve been able to do it.”

The Nats offense powered by 6 home runs which began with a home run by Wilson Ramos and then a grand slam by Danny Espinosa followed by home runs by Bryce Harper and Espinosa again and then Anthony Rendon and Stephen Drew capped off the blasts by the Nats players. Espinosa has 2 grand slams in the week and multi-HR games from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter which is a rare feat.

Danny Espinosa’s 15 RBIs vs. the Reds in this series is tied for the third-most RBIs in a 4-game series in MLB history.

The defense today was sensational again with Web Gems turned by both Rendon and Espinosa.

Strasburg improved to 11-0 this season and the Nats win their 50th game of the season.
