You cannot win them all! Nats tie it up in the 8th & blow it in the 10th: Postgame

The Nationals scored 4 unanswered run and tied up the game in the 8th inning with a few chances to win it, and then in the top of the 10th the Nationals had some poor pitching from Sammy Solis coupled with some poor defense. It is the way it goes sometimes. The Nationals offense wasn’t much, but a Ben Revere triple, a Danny Espinosa home run, and a Bryce Harper RBI single were enough to get the game tied in the 8th inning.

Joe Ross gave up 4 runs tonight and has now done this in consecutive starts. There was also a velocity dropoff with Ross in the latter innings on his sinker. Ross has an average sinker velocity at 93.5mph. Tonight Ross’ sinker velo was 91.8, and in his last inning had dropped to 89.

The Nationals lose 9-4 in 10 innings. There should definitely be some concern about Joe Ross and we will have to see what is wrong as he has struggled with 2 straight outings couple with a velo drop. It could change Dusty’s plans for the starter in Sunday.

Better luck tomorrow to the Nats.
