Today is the first official day of Spring Training as Pitchers & Catchers report later today! Yesterday, we talked about the Nats MVP, ROY, & CY & MOY, and today we talk about potential CPOY candidates. You may ask, what is CPOY? That is the acronym for Comeback Player Of the Year, and the Nats have several candidates who will compete for that award. The success of the 2016 Nats could hinge on potential CPOY players stepping up for the Nats!
Last years winners of the CPOY were Matt Harvey (NL) and Prince Fielder (AL) and the only Nat to ever win it was none other than Dmitri Young in 2007.

The CPOY is presented by MLB to the player who is judged to have “re-emerged on the baseball field during a given season.” The writers who vote for the award have latitude on picking players and usually the candidates are coming off of a poor year due to injury or personal issues.
Nats pre-season candidates for the CPOY could be:
- Rendon
- RZim
RerthWerth- Roark
- Ramos
This list is made up of former All-Stars, Silver Sluggers, Gold Glove and heart and soul players. The first 3 names on the list were all players who were injured for much of the 2015 season.
All of these players really need to step up this year, and the hopes would be that one or more of these players return to “All-Star” form.
On the calendar for today will be a wait & see if Rizzo places Aaron Barrett on the 60 Day DL as today is the first day players are eligible to be moved off the 40 man roster and onto the 60 Day DL. Will today be the day that the PTBNL from the Revere/Storen trade be named?

We have discussed the innings limit for Lucas Giolito at 140 innings.
Giolito says he hasn't talked yet about an inning limit, but he feels healthy and hopes if there is one, it's not too restricting. #Nats
