Game #14 Nats back in Jupiter; Mike Rizzo goes from renter to homeowner!

Mike Rizzo homeowner

Maybe that text message Mike Rizzo received at the Nats Winterfest was from his realtor Ed Carp that they got the home! Mike Rizzo has finally gone from renter to homeowner in Washington, D.C. after nearly 12 years of having a landlord he finally is settling down near his office in Southeast Washington. When we reached out to Mr. Carp for comment, he was very cordial while being protective of confidential information.

Let’s get real here. You don’t purchase a 1.3 million dollar residence after 12 years of renting if you don’t know you’re staying for many more years. This isn’t a Jonathan Papelbon situation where he purchased in Alexandria, Virginia and knew he was a short-term guy.

Location, location, location is the mantra in real estate, and the Lerners know all about real estate. When the Nationals were in search of locations for their new Spring Training home, they chose Palm Beach County in Florida where they just drive up the street for most of their games or stay at home as the “road” team against the Houston Astros who they share the FITTEAM Ballpark at the Palm Beaches with.

Today, the Nationals will drive the 17 minutes back up the street for another game against the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida. Today’s game features veteran pitchers of baseball with Adam Wainwright who turns 37 years old, and Max Scherzer for the Nationals. Wainwright was a two-time runner-up in the Cy Young voting, but never a winner. Scherzer is a 3-time winner of the Cy Young, and Mad Max grew up a fan of Wainwright’s when he was in college at the University of Missouri.

The Nationals will send many of their regulars to this game, but still no Adam Eaton, Daniel Murphy or Koda Glover and Ryan Zimmerman still has all of 2 at-bats this spring. All three position players continue to do baseball activities, but other than Zim’s one game last week, that is all the game activity these players have had.
