Game #42 Scherzer going for the W; Jayson Werth’s 38th Birthday!

Today, the reigning Cy Young pitcher in the NL Max Scherzer takes the mound with the hopes of ending this 3-game losing slide for his Washington Nationals. It is Jayson Werth‘s 38th birthday, and while that is still young in human years; in baseball years it is reserved for those few who have performed well enough to earn their spot.

Speaking of spots, we should hear shortly if Mike Rizzo is making any roster moves to bolster this beleaguered bullpen that continues to get bashed for runs. The Nationals once again lost a game in the bullpen.

The Braves send Bartolo Colon to the mound today. He will be the one player on the field older than Jayson Werth, and Colon’s birthday is in 4 days as he turns 44-years-old. Age isn’t everything as both of these players have shown. The difference is Jayson Werth plays almost every day and his diet and physique is vastly noticeable.
