Game #40 in the early afternoon; Winner takes the series!

Tanner Roark takes the mound for the Washington Nationals today as he hopes to get back to what he knows he is capable of doing. This game is a 12:35pm start time in Pittsburgh and matches up well for a getaway day as the Nationals fly to Atlanta.

The Pirates start Tyler Glasnow who is trying to stay in the rotation as he is carrying a 7.98 ERA. The Pittsburgh right-hander has only faced 5 of the Nats players before and Anthony Rendon is batting 1.000; Bryce Harper .500 and Jose Lobaton .500. Interestingly enough, Brian Goodwin is a career 0-2 against him and Wilmer Difo is 0-1.  The 6’8″ Glasnow has a 2.08 WHIP this year and both lefties and righties are hitting him about the same at .316 vs .314, but he is also walking lefties at an astronomical pace.

Tanner Roark only completed 4 2/3 innings 5 days ago but still threw 110 pitches while giving up 4 earned runs in his worst start of the season. Roark two starts before that threw 125 pitches, and today is the day he must show he can bounceback for his team and win this series for the Nationals.

Both Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman get the day-off today. Brian Goodwin will get another start, and Adam Lind will start at 1st base.

Trea Turner has turned in multiple Web Gems in this series at shortstop even though his stat sheet showed he had two errors. FP Santangelo on the TV broadcast last night felt that one of those errors will be reversed to a hit.
